THE APPRENTICE 4

Chidi was guided by other apprentices on the prices of items, how to make good sales and how to enter inventory. He paid keen attention to those.

He watched as the boys attended to customers. He asked questions when needed and was clarified.
They did this for a couple of days.
Chidi was open to learning, and he learnt so fast.
In no time he started attending to customers.
He was jovial and had a unique way of attracting customers.
He was so excited as he made sales, and this made him love the business more.
Chidi enjoyed going to shop more than anything.
At home, he was usually among the first to wake up and start their morning routine.
As time went on, Chief discovered Chidi made better sales than other boys.
He loved him the more. He promised to reward him for being diligent.
Chief takes care of the boys' needs at the shop. He usually gives them a specific amount to buy food.
But when it comes to buying clothes and foot wears, Chief's wife handles that and she usually does that occasionally.
Later on, Chidi became friends with many apprentices. They would talk about their experiences with their masters and even their wives.
So one day, he went to eat food at their usual place and met one of his friends there.
"Man mu! How u dey?" his friend asked.
"I'm fine," Chidi replied as they shook hands.
"Your brothers no follow u come eat today."
"They are busy. I was so famished that I couldn't wait any longer."
"Better for you. You dey suffer for wetin no be your own."
"How?"
"Your oga dey use u."
"But that's how it should be."
"Says who?"
"Reward yourself oo! Take out small small money from the sales you make and reward yourself. Buy good clothes, eat better food and even send money to your parents. This people no go do this thing for you if you no do am for yourself."
"You are making sense oo," Chidi said obviously reasoning towards that direction
"Yes, nobody will tell you this. Everybody dey do am."
They talked about other things and later left.
Chidi went back to their shop and was thinking about what his friend told him.
